Durga Bhavani’s journey with PARD INDIA is an inspiring story of transformation and empowerment. From a young age, she dreamed of learning to sew and stitch, believing that this skill could open new opportunities for her. After her 10th class, she stopped pursuing higher studies, got married, and became a mother of two daughters at a very early age. Realizing her potential to stand independently, she trained in a sewing center in 2012 and started sewing at home to run her family. Having gained good experience in stitching, she volunteered to support PARD INDIA’s CSR project, “The POWER of SEWING,” as a Trainer, empowering rural women from low-income group families through this intervention.
At PARD INDIA, Durga Bhavani began her sewing teaching through a structured teaching path, starting with basic hand sewing techniques. The training gradually progressed to complex stitching patterns, garment creation, and digital training through customized training modules available on YouTube. She fostered a positive and encouraging learning environment, patiently guiding each student, even when they made mistakes. Her supportive attitude and willingness to repeat instructions created a space where every trainee felt comfortable exploring their potential.
She created a nurturing environment that helped many female trainees overcome their initial hesitations and gain confidence. The defining moment for her training came when every woman successfully stitched her first blouse. This achievement was more than just creating a piece of clothing; it symbolized determination and marked the beginning of every woman's transformative journey.
The training at PARD INDIA not only equipped trainees with technical skills but also instilled a belief in them. For years, Durga felt confined by her circumstances, but now she sees herself as independent and capable, getting exposure and recognition from the local community, government, and political leaders. With each stitch, she taught all the trainees to craft a future filled with possibilities where they could take control of her destiny.
The opportunities provided by PARD INDIA, in collaboration with M/s Jayam Solutions Ltd., have truly transformed Durga’s life. Now, she is a professional trainer. She credits the organization, enabling her to lead about 200 women trainees from April 2023 to December 2024. This empowerment has a ripple effect in her life, inspiring her to dream bigger.
Her story is a testament to the life-changing impact of PARD INDIA’s initiatives. By enabling individuals like Durga Bhavani to realize their potential, the organization continues to empower rural communities and create meaningful change.
